The Osprey is full of paddling options as a decked canoe/sea kayak watercraft. It uses the hull of our top selling canoe, the “Susquehanna”. The hull performance of the Osprey is equal to the Susquehanna with its speed, stability, tracking and handling. With the added deck it opens up a whole new world of options for use in rougher water conditions as well as cold weather paddling. It’s not only a great boat for flatwater rivers and lakes but also can be used on open exposed lakes and bays were the wind and waves can kick up in a hurry. It can be paddled like a canoe with the higher seat or like a kayak with the lower seat option. With the Sail and ama options this becomes a fun cruising watercraft for day sailing or malti day sailing adventures. It is also a fast boat for adventure racing like the Everglades Challenge.
The cockpit sizes are fully customizable, either as a regular sea kayak with a center gear cockpit or one large open cockpit for easier cargo packing and more room for the paddler. The deck height can also be customized to fit larger paddlers and more gear or lowered for lighter paddlers and for a more streamlined craft. The rudder option greatly enhances the tracking and turning ability of this boat making it a good choice in rougher conditions.
