The Surfrigger, a one person outrigger canoe, was designed to perform well in rough ocean conditions as well as be competitive in flat water races. The balanced deck configuration and bottom contours make it easier to steer in side wind or following seas than other designs. The addition of the rudder system means that anyone can jump in and enjoy the speed and lively performance of this beautiful canoe. Few things match the thrill of canoe surfing on ocean swells, wind chop or breaking surf.
The small volume cockpit stays dry in most conditions and is capable of being fitted with a spray skirt so it can be paddled in all types of weather conditions. It also makes a great inland water canoe for cold weather and rough lake water paddling. The Surf Rigger is designed by Kris Kjeldsen, a New Zealand designer and has won many races in that area and in southern California.
